I cannot believe it already August and I have not been on my horse nearly
enough this year But this hasn’t stopped our members from winning some
thrilling battles to preserve safe trails for hikers and equestrians.
First: Lynn Brown ETI, the Sierra Club and a lot of her friends, have again
stopped the onslaught of mountain bikes on LA City and Park trails note the
news release on “News Page of the CET&LC Web Page.
Second: Connie Berto and her friends have stopped another charge by the mountain
bike folks from taking over a historic hiking and equine trails at Mt Tamalpais.
Both of these “victories” are exciting news for the equestrian
communities and give support and hope to other groups facing the same challenges
both in California and nationally. . If it wasn’t for these partnerships
that have been started with CET&LC there might not be these victories
to celebrate t?
Third: The Orange County fair grounds has allowed horses to remain at this
fair ground and use the trails in the vicinity.
Fourth: ACE and the hard work of Jaede Miloslavich have seen a real change
in the future of the Emigrant trail.
The battle is still going on for the Motorized changes by the Forest Service.
I believe there is uniform effort by BCHC and other CET&LC members to
fight these restrictions aginst motorized and horse trailer access into the
forest.
Fifth: The Cuyamaca group has filed a lawsuit against State parks to fight
the displacement of horses in the Los Cabajos State Park.
All members of CET&LC should be very proud of their efforts and their
partnerships in working to save the future use of historic trails and areas
for horses.
